Evaluation
This task meant that a lot of research had to be done to convey the right type of advertisement for the certain product (such as researching other energy drinks e.g: Red Bull and Relentless) and that it would sell well to the audience the product was aimed at.
Our product was an energy drink named 'Recharge' with the audience aimed at to be in the age range of 16-26 year old's and with the gender to mainly be males. This was because the product was designed around the idea of a sports theme, and also with rock type of music.
The adverts we produced and completed, conveyed the energy drink type of advertisement.
In our first advert, the 'car advert', we were able to show the male side of the product. This is because we had to sit and discuss what types of things boys are interested in, which is what led us to the conclusion of producing a car themed advert. This would appeal well to males because world wide there is a huge amount of interest towards cars, and mainly from the male gender. By linking these two ideas together (cars and Recharge) resulted in a good advert that would get the attention of the public, which in the media industry would result in a successful task.
Our second advert, 'runner advert' has shown the sports side to the drink. This idea was thought up by coming up to the conclusion that another major part in a males life is very often sports and fitness. The advert is very simple, showing the audience that it is not an expensive gym visit a few times a week that is the only way to good fitness. Attracting a lot of attention because the audience would jump to the chance of saving money. By making the advert as simple as running would also inspire the audience to get out more and that with enough energy (from the Recharge energy drink) it can easily be done. By showing the before and after scenes in the advert, gives the audience the idea of how well the drink can work, also resulting in a lot more interest.
In our radio advert, we have conveyed the rock music side of the drink. Appealing to a lot of people because young people going to concerts equals a very huge figures count. It also gives people the more safer option to have an energy drink instead of being persuaded into doing drugs or alcohol to keep them going and keep dancing, without making their 'image' or 'reputation' going down, as younger people would worry about. This is because Recharge has been specifically designed for younger people so would not look bad to others, but would look good. In the advert, we made sure main details were announced, such as the fact that for an energy boost, Recharge is the way too it.
In our web pop-up, we made sure a whole shot of the product was on screen, ensuring the audience knew exactly what was being advertised at first look. We made it clear and simple, this was because if too much was cramped into the pop-up, it would turn out looking cheap and tacky, resulting in the audience not taking a second look and closing the advert straight away. By making it look more professional would ensure more people to actually read what it is about. Making another successful advert in the media industry.
To produce our adverts proved to be the trickier task. This was because we had to change files types to make them work with different software and make sure they worked with the programmes we were using. The filming of the two TV adverts was simple as we were given a good camera with all equipment such as tripod, leads etc. The recording of the radio advert was also very simple as we were able to record the script written onto our mobile phones in a suitable environment and send it to the computer. Editing both tasks was a little less simple however was still easily do-able. Using windows movie maker gave us the advantage to producing a product with easy access to adding in music and effects, which was a huge help to the result of all adverts.
After completing this task, i have learnt a lot more about the media industry and how to market products. The main thing to do when wanting to put a product on the market would be to research a lot, over and over again to make sure nothing is missing and that it would appeal a lot more to the audience you are aiming for.
I had technical problems whilst trying to upload the TV adverts and radio advert onto my blog, however you can find them on my team mates blogs at :

Web Pop-Up.
For this advert we will have to come up with something very catchy, but not cheesy looking so the audience don't close the pop-up without giving a second look, like many are today because people tend to think they are scam adverts or adverts that are just going to waste your time just to gain access to your email address. This will then end up with that certain person getting a lot of unwanted junk mail, and would allow the website to have access to what types of sites this person views to going information on what types on interests the person has, resulting in the website sending the person more junk mail. In order to achieve this, i am going to research web pop-ups to see how they are handled in the advertising industry.
After reading about web pop-ups, i discovered that most people will probably installed a pop-up blocker or will immediately close down the pop-up. So in order for my pop-up to get attention and get second looks, my pop-up would have to be on a site that people would expect this type of product to be advertised on, such as music sites, concert sites and most importantly, energy drink sites.
The design of the pop-up is also a very important part. It will have to be colourful, but not too colourful where it results in looking cheap and tacky. It will have to have big, clear font. And also it should be clear straight away on what the product is and the purpose of the advert.
This was my first design :
In this design, i have made it clear what the product is. I have shown the name of the product twice, this will ensure the name will be more likely to stick in the audiences mind. I haven't put too much in the design because if it became over crowded it would look tacky and wouldn't be as clear. Also to make it clear i have put big font with simple phrases. This also ensures that it will not be too hard for anyone to read as it is simple lettering. The colours i have chosen are similar colours to to cans design, but still stand out because they are bright.
This is my second design :
This design is again simple and has similar colours to the cans design. It has the products website on the design, like my first design. It isn't too close together, making it look tidy, but has enough in it to make sure it doesn't look empty. If i was to choose a design out of this one and the first one, i would probably choose the first one as it is more eye catching by the way the font is slanted and just by the layout. My group and i have chosen to use one of Patricks designs for the final one.
Radio Advert.
To do this, me and my group sat down and discussed what type of script we should create. Our first idea was to have a young teenage boys mother knock on his door in the morning and have no reaction from the sleepy teen. She then walks in the room and offers him a can of recharge to perk him up ready for the day. After drinking the energy drink the teenager is up and ready all recharged ready for the day of school that's ahead.
After discussing this version, we realised that this would not work as parents would not give their child an energy drink for breakfast and we would not want to endorse the idea to teenagers or to anyone.
After thinking of other ways in which we could advertise the product, we discussed where teenagers / young adults would drink energy drinks and why. We finally came up with the idea that a concert would be a good example, as teens can simply drink an energy drink to fuel their dancing instead of choosing the risky option of alcohol.
With this in mind, we started to write our script, this is what we came up with :
(Sound of crowd)
-Friend: ''Hey Jamie, where you goin'? The next band is on in 5 minutes''
-Jamie: ''Gotta go home, so tired''
-Friend: Here try some of this''
-Jamie: ''What the hell's this? Recharge?''
(Sound of can opening then drinking.)
-Jamie: ''Yeeeahh!''
(Then upbeat rock music starts playing in the background)
-Voice over Man: ''That's right!, Recharge gives you so much energy you'll be able to party all night long''
(Rock music then finishes)
-Voice over man: ''Recharge your life!''
We decided that 'recharge your life is going to be our catch phrase and would also be another logo, as well as just the name 'Recharge'.
The way we have written our script makes it familiar to a lot of teenagers / young adults today, as there are a lot of young people going to concerts all the time nowadays and it can begin to get to them energy wise. To save them going for the dangerous options such as alcohol or drugs, we are advertising that we are providing a safer substitute in the form of our energy drink. I think that this sort of advert would appeal to a lot of people and would grab the attention enough for the audience to go out and buy a can. Resulting in a successful advert.

Advert Number 2.
At The Beginning.
I was looking through my college notepad and found abit of my original planning for this task and thought it would be good if i put it up on here, which should really have been done at the time ..
These ideas are different ones for what type or product we would be marketing :
- Energy drink :
- New design can shape ?
- 'In your face' colours
- Attention grabbing logo
- 'New craze' for teens and young adults.
- Soft drink :
-Healthier, but still tasty, 'fun', satisfying.
-New shape bottle? - 'Wackier', attracts younger audience, colourful?
-Sweets : Something completely different, 'fun', moreish ..
-Weight loss : New healthy way to loose weight. 'Non boring', keeps you satisfied.
- Metabolism tablets?
- Meals and treats packages sent.
- Ways in which we could advertise : Show people holding much bigger clothes 'hanging' off them. Happy people. Show women and men, not just appealing to women. Also healthy for body conscious teens.
- New mobile phone / Ipod / Mp3 :
- Looks amazing
- Can hold huge amounts of music
- Can PowerPoint, airbrush pictures, convert music, download music safely, with all this free already installed on, no hassle, helpful.
After this planning, obviously me and my group decided to go for the energy drink as we have already designed the can, got the name, logo, advert done etc. We decided this to be the better idea because it is easier to market, for example if we were trying to sell a new weight loss product, we would have to try and make our product very different from the lots of other popular brands out there already. We also would not be able to put false advertising such as 'the best, easiest and quickest way to loose weight' or sayings similar because as the advertisers, we cannot make such statements unless sure of the abilities of the product, and as it would not be a real product, to say something so great about it would not be imaginative enough to do well.
